.O Holy Night.

This is my favourite Christmas carol.  The third verse, especially, gets me excited.  This is the Christ whose birth we are celebrating!  The one whose law is love, whose gospel is peace, who is setting slaves free, and who causes all oppression to cease, who calls his people to follow this example.

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,

It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth.

Long lay the world in sin and error pining,

'Til He appear'd and the soul felt its worth.

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees! O hear the angels' voices!
